Dance Venues by Stephan Green

Some great photos of Jacob's Pillow Inside / Out Stage (2011) provided by Christopher Duggan www.christopherduggan.com and of Berkshire Pulse Dance Studio (2014) provided by Susan Quinn of New Marlborough, MA encouraged us to re-post these two recent projects designed by C&G for dance performance and training:

The Inside / Out Stage at Jacob’s Pillow www.jacobspillow.org was designed in collaboration with Mark Constable, Director of Production.  Mark provided design guidance supporting C&G’s design work. The result is a dramatic outdoor venue for dance that satisfied the Pillows’ performance and production intent as wells as fulfilling accessibility requirements demanded by the Massachusetts Access Board. Clark & Green worked directly with Mr. Thomas Hopkins, the Executive Director of the AAB in Boston, leading to Board’s approval of the project.

Clark & Green Building Renewal by Stephan Green

Scheduled for completion in early 2015, our building at 113 Bridge Street, Great Barrington, MA, is undergoing much needed exterior improvements. Exterior insulation has been installed covering the entire building which is being coated with an acrylic stucco finish. New storefront windows are being fabricated and a unique lighting detail will enliven final facade design.  Though the building may seem abandoned at the moment, we are all inside working hard on your projects and much warmer and cozier inside due to the new exterior insulation. Happy New Year to all and we look forward to 2015, a year of renewal.

Berkshire Pulse Ribbon Cutting Ceremony by Stephan Green

After an extended period without a formal home, Berkshire Pulse, the amazing dance studio, that provides South Berkshire County's children, teenagers and adults with dance education and a love of the art form, had its formal ribbon cutting. Pulse occupies the 6000 square foot third floor of the Rubin Mill overlooking the Housatonic River. The event was attended by Jennifer Tabakin, Town Manager of Great Barrington and Smitty Pignatelli, State Representative to the Massachusetts  House.  The mood was celebratory and joyful since Pulse brings great energy and life to the Village of Housatonic and the region. Led by Bettina Montano, the Founder and Artistic Director, and Diane Pearlman, President of the Board, classes have more than doubled since moving into their new space.  Clark & Green, Inc. provided architectural services for design and the installation of the studios. The firm also guided the Owners' of the Rubin Mill in the process of installing a modern fire suppression system and Building Code upgrades. These upgrades allowed the building tenants including Berkshire Pulse, to obtain Certificates of Occupancy. Additionally, to provide handicap accessibility in conformance with the Architectural Access Board Regulations of Massachusetts, Clark & Green, Inc. obtained a Variance from the Board.
